Solid Queue

I love the idea of one less dependency for my Rails apps, and creating a better DevEx!

37 Signals open sourced Solid Queue last month and is planning to make it the default for Rails 8.

I love the idea of one less dependency for my Rails apps, no Redis for jobs. It will also have scheduling and CRON like support, soonish. Probably will need to use Solid Cache as well to fully remove Redis.

Doesn't feel like it's quite ready for me to make the switch. For one, scheduling and CRON support isn't there yet. And the admin for it, Mission Control, isn't available. For now, I'll stick with Sidekiq.

The focus on making Rails a one person framework is awesome and clearly a focus for the project. I think that's important because it makes for a better DevEx regardless of team size.
